On this day, 38 years ago –September 14th 1982– a heroic legacy was set in motion and remains alive to this very day. Sergeant Ed Holcomb Jr of the Conroe Police Department put his life on the line for citizens everywhere during a domestic dispute call that unfortunately took away not just him from his loved ones but an admired patriot whose service and fidelity stretched 5 long years before one selfless act ultimately sealed its remembered place in history. Though saddened by their loss, Holcomb’s wife and son gathered together with all those who knew him to honorably commemorate every bit of courage embodied through his sacrifice; grateful only that he is being remembered across America as proudly stated today – “A hero NEVER dies”. It too was no surprise then when I personally felt honored hearing about how they asked me to capture such bravery into a full figure bronze statue form …to show Ed saluting firmly towards others and the stars above-a true reminder forever kept safe…of our most unforgettable heroes never forgotten!
